United Lincolnshire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust partners with Mizaic to improve access to historic patient records

< Return to the insights hub

We’re delighted to announce our partnership with United Lincolnshire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust – a major step in the Trust’s mission to drive digital transformation and give clinical teams faster, smarter access to essential patient data.

Powered by MediViewer, our intelligent electronic document management system (EDMS), the project will enable the trust to create digitised, accessible versions of its historic patient records. The news comes hot on the heels of our partnering with Harrogate and District NHS Foundation Trust, reflecting a growing NHS-wide strategy to accelerate digitisation and unlock the value of data across the entire patient journey.

Better access unlocks better outcomes

For ULHT, MediViewer will transform how clinicians work with patient information. Instead of searching through stacks of paper, they’ll be able to find the right details instantly through the tool’s rich search capabilities and intuitive user interface. Historic notes and scanned documents will also sit seamlessly alongside live digital feeds, fully integrated with the Trust’s electronic patient record (EPR) system.

With this complete view of each patient’s history at the point of care, clinicians and users can make faster, more confident, and more informed decisions – ultimately improving patient outcomes. It also helps frontline teams by reducing risks, cutting administrative burdens, and strengthening collaboration across the Lincolnshire Integrated Care System.

As Michael Humber, Group Director of Digital Services at Lincolnshire Community and Hospitals NHS Group explained:

“Our contract signing with Mizaic allows us to invest in a product that will give us modern, supported digital technology to enable our colleagues to have improved access to historic patient records. Having better access to historic patient records will, in turn, improve patient outcomes.”

Innovation at the heart of transformation

With this partnership, ULHT will also be among the first Trusts to benefit from MediViewer’s newest innovations. Our AI-powered intelligent search surfaces the most relevant patient details in seconds, while the Access Request Manager automates processes that previously took hours or even days. Together, these features make it easier than ever for clinical teams to unlock the value of patient records and focus their time where it matters most: delivering frontline care.

Driving a bigger NHS shift

While our EDMS is a critical part of ULHT’s digital transformation, this project showcases more than the power of technology alone. It reflects a wider NHS movement toward modern, vendor-agnostic platforms that support collaboration, improve resilience, and unlock lasting improvements in patient care.

Our CEO, Jon Pickering, concludes:

“It’s exciting to see more NHS trusts take bold steps toward digitisation. This latest contract signing reflects the growing momentum we’re seeing across the NHS – not just to move away from paper, but to unlock the true value of patient records, transforming unstructured patient information into accessible and actionable clinical insight. We’re proud to support ULHT as it builds a fully digital, connected approach to patient care”
